Each tablet contains 40 mg Furosemide PHARMACOLOGY : Furosemide is a diuretic agent which has rapid onset of action. Diuresis effect is evident in ½ - 1 hour after oral administration and last for about 6-8 hours. Maximal effect is achieved within 1-2 hours. INDICATIONS : Edema (cardiac, pulmonary, renal and hepatic). Hypertension. CONTRAINDICATIONS : Anuria and patients which known hypersensitivity to Furosemide. During lactation. DOSAGE : Edema : Adults : initially ½ - 1 tablet daily. The dosage may be increased gradually (6-8 to hour intervals). Children : 2 mg 1 kg body weigh as single dose or as directed by the physician. until a satisfactory response is obtained. Hypertension : Initially 1 tablet 2 times daily the dosage then being adjusted according to patient response. ADVERSE REACTIONS : Hypocalemia Hyperuricemia Glucose tolerance disorder Vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, hypeglycemia Dematologic reactions eg urticaria, erythema multiforme. CAUTIONS : Caution should be taken in patients with following conditions : severe renal function impairment diabetes melitus, history of gent, hyperuricemia, history of lupus erythematosus and pacreatitis. Blood pressure, BUN (Blood, Urea, Nitrogen), carbon dioxide. Serum electrolytes concentration, serum glucose, and serum uric acid levels should be routinely monitored in patients having prolonged therapy with Furosemide. Avoid use in patients with pulmonary edema and hypotension due to myocardial infarction, excessive duresis in these patients can result in a shock. STORAGE : Keep in a cool and dry place.
